Who would you want at the helm as you set sail on the sea of matrimony? If a great personality, charisma, a strong voice, flawless delivery, warmth and incredible calm are important to you, you might want to ask Reverend Clint Hufft.

The officiant for “Trista & Ryan’s Wedding” on ABC-TV, he is as comfortable conducting high-profile ceremonies as he is with intimate, extremely private events.

CHARITY ENGAGEMENT SHOOTOUT

2. You cannot have a photographer already booked for your wedding. Sorry this may seem like a catch but really this event is just for those who need to find a photographer. You wouldn’t do a speed dating event if you were already in a relationship. If you really want to come and already have a shooter for your wedding, please contact me. There are other great things to do like get your makeup done and eat cake. And, you never know, with 50 photographers there is bound to be a few hanging around who would love to photograph you.

WHY:
I am often asked why I do these shootouts. There are two reasons. One, because I love to teach and I started doing them as workshops for up and coming photographers. Two, because photographers are notoriously competitive with each other, holding their contacts and trade secrets close to their vest. I have decided to flip the whole game on it’s head. I am giving 50 photographers a shot at booking MY leeds all in the name of charity. I work hard for my contacts but also know that ultimately people hire me for me so why not share the love and make some money for a great organization. This is match making at it’s finest! Here is how it works. 50 photographers get to work with up to 6 pre-matched potential clients out of 50 engaged couples. They are matched based on style, budget, and date availability. Couples get the opportunity to test drive 6 shooters AND they get to keep their image files after the shoot with no strings attached. Nobody pays a dime, unless they wish to donate to my charity. Something like this would go for a minimum of $1,500 to work with this many shooters and get your files. My goal: raise as much money for the charity, work with some wonderful people in the industry, and hopefully match up some couple’s to their future wedding photographer. I will be shooting too, so I hope to meet some potential future brides and grooms as well.

The charity is LETMESAIL, an organization dedicated to enriching the lives of the disabled through social and educational events. These people are about the same age as the engaged couples, but lead a very different life. They have movie nights, go on camping trips, get job training, and are extremely happy people however are physically and mentally disabled. LETMESAIL helps them to sail. It is perfectly fitting that I am hosting the event at one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Malibu on the beach at The Sunset Restaurant.

“The 2010 Bridal Manicure”

Lately, I’ve been wondering when the French manicure is going to go away. Specifically, from brides but generally from the planet! Especially the long, squared off version which, in my opinion, has no place on an elegant 2010 bride. I don’t think it enhances a woman’s hands or her ring finger. Think of the fingers like you do legs and the nails as shoes. If you have short legs, you lengthen them by wearing a heel with a slightly pointed toe . You would give them an even longer look by wearing a shoe in a neutral color. If you want to lengthen your fingers, you file them to a more natural arch and keep the color sheer and neutral.

A few of my favorite nail colors are by Essie in Ballet Slippers and Blushing Bride.
OPI has a great feature on their website, www.opi.com, where there’s a picture of a hand. You adjust the nail length and match the skin tone to your own then pick out the color you want to try.

Many people ask me if I do video as well as photography. I think people assume motion work and still work go hand in hand. This is not the case, however more and more photographers are trying their hand in video due to their cameras ability to do so. Just because a still shooter CAN shoot video doesn’t mean they should. They are two separate mediums and specialties. If you want it done right, hire the people who know what they are doing: videographers. To tell you the truth, as a photographer it is hard to find a videographer who is easy to work with. Reason being: we both want the same shots and are often tripping over each other. The best ones to work with are the ones where you feel like the still and motion people are working as a team in concert with each other.

Marc of Bluecat international is one of my absolute favorite videographers on the planet. His work is so fluid, and velvety, and stunning, and insane! The production value on his work is priceless and worth every penny and then some. One thing I like about Marc is his ability to capture your event like a real movie. He has a way of shooting that feels like the camera work of an epic film. He also has the same philosophy as mine: we capture the day whatever that may be. He doesn’t try not to get the photographers in the shots because we are part of the day. I do the same thing. I love shots of the videographer, DJ, waiters, and musicians doing their thing. It shows the whole event and brings back the memories of it all to the clients in full form. If you are looking for the best of the best, check out this wedding video. “Create a Face Map”

I was recently contacted by a Los Angeles bride-to-be named Daisy Church who was to be married at a destination wedding. She explained that she wouldn’t be able to hire a makeup professional at the destination, and couldn’t manage the expense of bringing me from Los Angeles. But she had a clever proposition: Could I teach her some of my techniques so she could count on looking perfect on The Big Day? She already had a look -and a face-in mind: the timeless dewiness of Grace Kelly. (You could easily choose a photo of Kate Winslet, a model from a Bobbi Brown ad, or yourself with a look you loved). On the day of the lesson, Daisy came to my studio with a photo of the movie icon as well as her own bag of makeup.
My first step was to sort through her products, choosing which were appropriate, which weren’t, and what she would have to purchase. I knew that she needed a foundation primer to help the makeup go on smoothly and last longer. Even though her liquid foundation was the right color for her skin tone, I suggested another type that provided more coverage in front of all those cameras and videos. Since even mascaraed lashes tend to disappear in photos, I recommended individual false eyelashes. With me as instructor and Daisy as model/student, I taught her how to apply the chosen products. Afterward, I took photographs and printed them on- site. Then came the coolest part: I made a “face-map” of what products to use and where to use them so she would have a can’t-miss guide when it came to do it yourself. I can do the same for you.

The mission of LETMESAIL is to provide therapeutic, social, recreational, and educational opportunities for differently-abled individuals with disabilities (and their family members) enabling them to maximize their potential to lead a more independent, healthy, and enriched quality of life through a wide variety of activities held on-site at its Lifestyle Enrichment Center as well as a myriad of community-based activities.

People with disabilities have many talents, skills, capabilities, and unique traits. These talents and abilities can be used positively to benefit themselves and society. These individuals are not so much disabled as they are differently “abled”, and as such deserve a quality lifestyle where they can reach their full potential as human beings.
